Bendemeer House

About This Project
Concealed from view at Bendemeer, this house is revealed as you approach it around a rocky outcrop. It is completely private and yet has wonderful views across the site to the mountains beyond.

The monopitch roof and natural cedar cladding keep the profile low. The house is formed by three linked pavilions which wrap around and shelter the east facing entrance courtyard. The living area, with the kitchen at its heart, is in the center of the house and opens to generous outdoor entertaining areas and a spectacular view to Coronet Peak and towards Arrowtown.

The spaces are comfortable, and light filled with triple glazed bay windows providing places to sit in the sun at different times of the day. Being warm when it snows outside was an important priority. Designed for the sun and heated by a ground source heat pump system the house keeps very warm in winter.

The master bedroom opens to the north west to its own deck. The children’s bedroom wing is north facing, and each room has doors to the outside. Laundry, mud room and garage provide the service back up for an active, busy family life. Almost all the rooms connect directly to the outside providing a wonderful relationship between the house and its surroundings.  This is a spacious home designed to accommodate family and friends and make the most of its spectacular site.
